उत्क्रोशन्नर्जुनश्वैव सानुक्रोशस्तमाव्रजत् । क्रोशमाने<र्जुने चैव पार्थिवेषु च सर्वश:
utkrośann arjunaś caiva sānukrośas tam āvrajat | krośamāne 'rjune caiva pārthiveṣu ca sarvaśaḥ ||
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಅರ್ಜುನನೂ ಜೋರಾಗಿ ಕೂಗುತ್ತ, ಕರುಣೆಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿ, ಅವನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಮುನ್ನಡೆದನು. ಅರ್ಜುನನು ಅಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ರಾಜರ ನಡುವೆ ಆర్తನಾದ ಎದ್ದಿತು.
संजय उवाच
Even amid righteous warfare, the epic foregrounds compassion and the moral weight of violence: Arjuna’s pity and the widespread lament show that victory and duty do not erase human suffering.
Arjuna, crying out in anguish, approaches a particular person (‘him’), and his lament triggers or coincides with a general outcry among the assembled kings across the battlefield.
