त एनमन्नुवन् सर्वे द्रोणमाहवशोभिनम् । अधर्मत:ः कृतं युद्ध समयो निधनस्य ते
te enam anuvann sarve droṇam āhavaśobhinam | adharmataḥ kṛtaṃ yuddhaṃ samayo nidhanasya te ||
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಅವರು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಗೊಳಿಸುವ ದ್ರೋಣನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋದರು ಮತ್ತು ಹೇಳಿದರು—“ಈ ಯುದ್ಧ ಅಧರ್ಮದಿಂದ ನಡೆಯಿತು; ಈಗ ನಿನ್ನ ಮರಣಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಗದಿಯಾದ ಕಾಲ ಬಂದಿದೆ.”
संजय उवाच
The verse frames warfare under the lens of dharma: when combat is perceived as conducted through adharma, it is morally condemned and is portrayed as inviting inevitable retribution—death arriving as a ‘fixed time’ for the wrongdoer.
Sañjaya reports that warriors collectively pursue Droṇa on the battlefield. In doing so, they accuse the ongoing fighting of being unrighteous and announce that the moment of Droṇa’s death has arrived.
