Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the inevitability of suffering in war: even powerful leaders cannot escape the physical and moral weight of violence. It implicitly cautions against arrogance and reminds that adharma-driven conflict brings pain and forced retreat, exposing human vulnerability.

During the battle, Sātyaki’s arrows strike Duryodhana severely. Overcome by pain and distress, Duryodhana pulls back from the immediate fight and withdraws into his chariot’s interior.
