vivyadhuḥ somakās tūrṇaṃ samantāc charavṛṣṭibhiḥ | tatra droṇo 'harat prāṇān kṣatriyāṇāṃ viśāmpate ||
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು— ಸೋಮಕರೆಲ್ಲರು ತ್ವರಿತವಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲ ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳಿಂದ ಬಾಣವೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ವಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ದ್ರೋಣನು, ಓ ಜನಾಧಿಪತೇ, ಕ್ಷತ್ರಿಯರ ಪ್ರಾಣಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
संजय उवाच

Seeing Droṇa cutting down warriors, the Somakas counterattack immediately, surrounding him and wounding him with concentrated volleys of arrows, while Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Droṇa is taking the lives of many kṣatriyas.
