sañjaya uvāca | catur-aṅgasya sainyasya sampātaḥ mahān abhūt | tathā rathī-śreṣṭhā rathibhiḥ saha prasannatayā yuddhaṃ cakruḥ | tasmin bhīṣaṇe pradoṣa-kāle tava putrasya ājñayā tatra catur-aṅgiṇyāṃ senāyāṃ bhārī mārakāṭaḥ samajāyata || tato 'rjuno mahārāja kauravāṇām anīkinīm ... ||
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಆ ಚತುರಂಗ ಸೇನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಯಂಕರ ಘರ್ಷಣೆ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ರಥಿಗಳು ಇತರ ರಥಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹರ್ಷದಿಂದಲೂ ದೃಢಸಂಕಲ್ಪದಿಂದಲೂ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ತೊಡಗಿದರು. ಆ ಭೀಕರ ಪ್ರದೋಷಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪುತ್ರನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯಿಂದ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಚತುರಂಗ ಸೇನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾ ಸಂಹಾರ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು. ನಂತರ, ಮಹಾರಾಜ, ಅರ್ಜುನನು ಕೌರವರ ಸೇನಾವ್ಯೂಹದ ಮೇಲೆ ಮುನ್ನಡೆದನು…
