As a colophon, the verse does not teach through direct instruction; it frames an episode whose ethical weight lies in how battlefield actions—especially irreversible violence—must be judged against dharma, restraint, and the rules of combat, even when driven by vows and fury.
This is the closing formula of the chapter: Sañjaya signals that the chapter within Droṇa Parva, in the Jayadratha-slaying section, specifically the episode about severing Bhūriśravas’s arm, has concluded.
