Chapter 137: Yuyudhāna (Sātyaki) Slays Somadatta; Yudhiṣṭhira Redirected from Droṇa
karṇo duḥśāsano'haṃ ca jeṣyāmo yudhi pāṇḍavān | sañjaya |
The verse highlights how repeated boasts and reliance on force alone can become a form of moha—clouding judgment and ignoring dharma. Ethical failure is shown not only in actions but also in the mindset of pride that refuses to see consequences and moral reality.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra addresses Sañjaya, recalling the Kaurava side’s confidence that Karna, Duḥśāsana, and their leader together would defeat the Pāṇḍavas in battle—an attitude rooted in earlier assembly rhetoric and now tested amid the grim unfolding of the war.
