Duryodhana’s Incursion and the Tumult of Battle
लोकापवादभीरुत्वात् सो*हं पार्थ वृकोदरम्
lokāpavādabhīrutvāt so’haṃ pārtha vṛkodaram
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು— “ಓ ಪಾರ್ಥ! ಲೋಕಾಪವಾದದ ಭಯದಿಂದ ಬಂಧಿತನಾಗಿ, ವೃಕೋದರನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಹಾಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದೆನು/ಹಾಗೆ ನಡೆದೆನು.”
संजय उवाच
The line highlights how fear of public blame (lokāpavāda) can pressure a person’s speech and decisions, raising an ethical tension between acting from inner dharma versus acting to protect reputation.
