ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಕ್ರೋಧದಿಂದ ಅವನು ಗದೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು, ಓ ಶತ್ರುಸಂತಾಪಕ, ಅದನ್ನು ಎಸೆದನು. ಆ ಗದೆ ತನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಬರುವುದು ಕಂಡ ಯುಧಿಷ್ಠಿರನೂ ಕೋಪೋದ್ರಿಕ್ತನಾಗಿ ಗದೆಯನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ದ್ರೋಣಾಚಾರ್ಯನ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರತಿಘಾತವಾಗಿ ಎಸೆದನು.
