The verse highlights how inner qualities (sattva as courage/mental strength) can stabilize a person under pressure, yet in a war context that same steadiness may serve anger and the drive to fight. It invites reflection on the ethical ambiguity of martial resolve: firmness of mind is a virtue, but its moral value depends on the intention and the end it serves.
Sanjaya reports that the assembled warriors, stirred up and made fierce, regain composure and battle-readiness and then move forward to confront Arjuna (Dhana f1jaya). It marks a renewed collective advance against him after a moment of hesitation or setback.
