As a colophon, the verse does not teach through direct instruction but frames the ethical arc of the episode: actions in war—especially vows, betrayals, and retaliations—carry inevitable consequences, and the narrative marks the completion of a morally charged segment (Jayadratha’s death) before moving to the next development (Duryodhana’s arrival).
This is the chapter-ending colophon: it identifies the text as Mahabharata, locates the chapter within Drona Parva and the Jayadratha-slaying episode, and states that this is the 101st chapter, themed around Duryodhana’s arrival/appearance in the ongoing war narrative.
