भीष्मस्य मध्याह्नयुद्धवर्णनम् / Mid-day Battle Description: Bhīṣma Engaged by the Pāñcālas
घण्टाभिश्न गजेन्द्राणां पतिताभि: समन्तत:,चारों ओर गजराजोंके घंटे पड़े हुए थे। हाथियोंकी पीठपर बिछाये जानेवाले फटे हुए विचित्र कम्बल और अंकुश सब ओर गिरे हुए थे। गलेके विचित्र आभूषण और सुनहरे रस्से भी जहाँ-तहाँ बिखरे पड़े थे
ghaṇṭābhis tu gajendrāṇāṃ patitābhiḥ samantataḥ | pṛṣṭheṣu ca gajānāṃ vai citrāḥ kambalapaṭṭikāḥ | aṅkuśāś ca nipatitāḥ sarvataḥ paridṛśyante | nānāvidhāni cābharaṇāni hemarajjuś ca tatra-tatra vikīrṇāḥ ||
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಗಜೇಂದ್ರರ ಬಿದ್ದ ಘಂಟೆಗಳು ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ಅವರ ಬೆನ್ನಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಾಸಿದ್ದ ಹರಿದ ವಿಚಿತ್ರ ಕಂಬಳಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅಂಕುಶಗಳೂ ಸಹ ಸರ್ವತ್ರ ಚದುರಿದ್ದವು; ನಾನಾವಿಧ ಕಂಠಾಭರಣಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಚಿನ್ನದ ಕಯಿಗಳು ಕೂಡ ಇಲ್ಲಿ-ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದವು.
