भीष्म: कृत्वा महाव्यूहं पिता तव विशाम्पते । सागरप्रतिमं घोरं वाहनोर्मितरज्धिणम्,प्रजानाथ! आपके ताऊ भीष्मने समुद्रके समान विशाल एवं भयंकर महाव्यूहका निर्माण किया, जिसमें हाथी, घोड़े आदि वाहन उत्ताल तरंगोंके समान प्रतीत होते थे
sañjaya uvāca | bhīṣmaḥ kṛtvā mahāvyūhaṃ pitā tava viśāmpate | sāgarapratimaṃ ghoraṃ vāhanormitarajdhīṇam ||
ಪ್ರಜಾನಾಥಾ! ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃವ್ಯ ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಸಮುದ್ರದಂತೆ ವಿಶಾಲವೂ ಭೀಕರವೂ ಆದ ಮಹಾವ್ಯೂಹವನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಿದನು; ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಆನೆ-ಕುದುರೆ ಮೊದಲಾದ ವಾಹನಸೈನ್ಯಗಳು ಉಕ್ಕುವ ಅಲೆಗಳಂತೆ ಏರಿ ಉರುಳುತ್ತ ಬಂದಂತೆ ಕಂಡವು।
