अफक्रान्तास्तुमुले सम्प्रमर्दे सुदारुणे भारत मोहनीये । अमूढचेतास्त्वथ चित्रसेनो महागदामापतत्तीं निरीक्ष्य

afakrāntās tumule sampramarde sudāruṇe bhārata mohanīye |
amūḍhacetas tv atha citraseno mahāgadām āpatattīṃ nirīkṣya ||
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಭಾರತರನ್ನು ಮೋಹಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಆ ಘೋರ, ತುಮುಲ, ಅತ್ಯಂತ ದಾರುಣ ಸಮರದಲ್ಲಿ, ಯಮದಂಡದಂತೆ ಭಯಂಕರವಾದ ಮಹಾಗದೆ ಧಾವಿಸಿ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು, ಎಲ್ಲ ಕೌರವರು ನಿನ್ನ ಪುತ್ರನನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅದರ ಉಗ್ರಾಘಾತದಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಎಲ್ಲ ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳಿಗೂ ಚದುರಿದರು. ಆ ಧಾವಮಾನ ಮಹಾಗದೆಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡರೂ ಚಿತ್ರಸೇನನ ಚಿತ್ತ ಮಾತ್ರ ವಿಮೂಢವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.
