न गोष्ठ्या नोपकारेण न च बन्धुनिमित्तत: । न सौहृदबलैर्वापि नाकुलीनपरिग्रहै:
na goṣṭhyā nopakāreṇa na ca bandhunimittataḥ | na sauhṛdabalair vāpi nākulīnaparigrahaiḥ ||
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರನ್ನೂ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರ ಗುಂಪಿನಿಂದ ಕರೆತಂದು, ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಉಪಕಾರದಿಂದ, ಕೇವಲ ಬಂಧುತ್ವದ ನೆಪದಿಂದ, ಸ್ನೇಹಬಂಧದಿಂದಲೋ ಬಲಪ್ರಯೋಗದಿಂದಲೋ ಸೇನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅಕುಲೀನರನ್ನು ಈ ಸೇನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.
