आर्य! भरतनन्दन! भूपाल! उस रणभूमिमें गिरे हुए उद्दधीप्त परिघ
sañjaya uvāca — ārya! bharatanandana! bhūpāla! tasmin raṇabhūmau patitāni uddīptaparigha-mudgara-prāsa-bhindipāla-khaḍga-paraśu-tīkṣṇa-tomara-svarṇamaya-kavaca-dhvaja-ḍhāla-svarṇadaṇḍa-vibhūṣita-chattra-vyajana-cābuka-yuga-koḍa-aṅkuśāḥ śastrāṇi ca bahudhā rāśi-rāśi vikirṇāni dṛśyante sma.
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಆರ್ಯ! ಭರತನಂದನ! ಭೂಪಾಲ! ಆ ರಣಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರಜ್ವಲಿತ ಪರಿಘಗಳು, ಮುದ್ಗರಗಳು, ಪ್ರಾಸಗಳು, ಭಿಂದಿಪಾಲಗಳು, ಖಡ್ಗಗಳು, ಫರಸುಗಳು, ತೀಕ್ಷ್ಣ ತೋಮರಗಳು, ಚಿನ್ನದ ವರ್ಮಗಳು, ಧ್ವಜಗಳು, ಗುರಾಣಿಗಳು, ಚಿನ್ನದ ದಂಡಗಳಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಿದ ಛತ್ರಗಳು, ವ್ಯಜನಗಳು, ಚಾಬುಕುಗಳು, ಯೋಕುಗಳು, ಕಶೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅಂಕುಶಗಳು—ರಾಶಿ ರಾಶಿಯಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಚದುರಿಕೊಂಡು ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು।
