देवदूतवच: श्रुत्वा वधे तस्य मनो दे | उस कटे हुए धनुषको फेंककर पितामह भीष्मने देवदूतके कथनपर ध्यान देकर तुरंत ही श्वेतके वधका निश्चय किया
devadūta-vacaḥ śrutvā vadhe tasya mano dadhe | utsṛjya chinnaṃ dhanuḥ śvetasya vadha-niścayaṃ pitāmaho bhīṣmaḥ kṛtavān ||
ದೇವದೂತನ ವಚನವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಶ್ವೇತನ ವಧದ ಕಡೆ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಿರಗೊಳಿಸಿದನು. ಮುರಿದ ಧನುಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಬಿಸಾಡಿ, ಆ ದಿವ್ಯ ಆದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಟ್ಟು ಪಿತಾಮಹ ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲೇ ಶ್ವೇತನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸುವ ನಿರ್ಣಯ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
