Chapter 47: Krauñca-vyūha Deployment and Conch-Signals
Kaurava–Pāṇḍava Readiness
हते तु भीष्मे राधेय पुनरेष्यसि संयुगम् । धार्तराष्ट्रस्य साहाय्यं यदि पश्यसि चेत् समम्,'राधेय! जब भीष्म मारे जाय, उसके बाद तुम यदि ठीक समझो तो युद्धमें पुनः दुर्योधनकी सहायताके लिये चले आना”
hate tu bhīṣme rādheya punar eṣyasi saṁyugam | dhārtarāṣṭrasya sāhāyyaṁ yadi paśyasi cet samam ||
ರಾಧೇಯಾ! ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹತನಾದ ಮೇಲೆ, ನಿನಗೆ ಯುಕ್ತವೆನಿಸಿದರೆ, ಮತ್ತೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಧೃತರಾಷ್ಟ್ರನ ಪುತ್ರನಿಗೆ ನೆರವಾಗು.
संजय उवाच
The verse frames participation in war as a matter of deliberate ethical judgment: even amid loyalty and alliance, one should act only if one deems the course ‘samam’—proper and fitting—highlighting reflective choice rather than blind partisanship.
Sañjaya reports a conditional plan involving Karṇa (Rādheya): after Bhīṣma falls, Karṇa is to return to the battlefield to support Duryodhana, provided he considers that assistance appropriate.
