Adhyāya 111 (Book 6): Daśama-dina-saṃgrāma—Bhīṣma’s Counsel to Yudhiṣṭhira and the Śikhaṇḍin-Led Advance
evaṁ vyūhya mahāsainyaṁ pāṇḍavās tava vāhinīm | abhyadravanta saṅgrāme tyaktvā jīvitam ātmanaḥ ||

The verse highlights a warrior-ethic aligned with dharma: once committed to a righteous battle, one must act with steadfast resolve, relinquishing fear and clinging to personal survival. It frames courage as disciplined detachment rather than recklessness.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the Pāṇḍavas, after arranging their large force into a battle formation, surged forward and attacked the Kaurava army, entering combat with a readiness to risk their lives.
