भीष्मपर्व — अध्याय ११०: पार्थभीमयोः प्रहारः तथा भीष्माभिमुखं संग्रामविस्तारः

हते मयि हतं सर्व तस्मादेवं विधीयताम् । “कुन्तीकुमारो! मैं तुम्हें आज्ञा देता हूँ। तुम सुख-पूर्वक मेरे ऊपर प्रहार करो। मैं तुम्हारे लिये यह पुण्यकी बात मानता हूँ कि तुम्हें मेरे इस प्रभावका ज्ञान हो गया कि मेरे मारे जानेपर सारी कौरव-सेना मरी हुई ही हो जायगी; अतः ऐसा ही करो (मुझे मार डालो)'

ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—“ನಾನು ಹತನಾದರೆ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಹತವಾದಂತೆಯೇ; ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇದೇ ರೀತಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯವಾಗಲಿ.” ನಂತರ ಅವನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—“ಕುಂತೀಪುತ್ರನೇ! ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತೇನೆ—ನಿರ್ಭಯವಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರಹಾರ ಮಾಡು. ನನ್ನ ಈ ಪ್ರಭಾವವನ್ನು ನೀನು ಅರಿತಿರುವುದು ನಿನಗೆ ಪುಣ್ಯವೇ—ನಾನು ಬಿದ್ದರೆ ಕೌರವಸೇನೆಯೂ ಬಿದ್ದಂತೆಯೇ; ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಾಡು.”
