उत्तिष्ठ पश्य वदनं लोकनाथस्य धीमत: । पुण्डरीकपलाशारक्ष पुरेव चपलेक्षणम्
uttiṣṭha paśya vadanaṁ lokanāthasya dhīmataḥ | puṇḍarīka-palāśārkṣaṁ pureva capalekṣaṇam ||
ಮಗನೇ! ಎದ್ದು ನಿಲ್ಲು; ಲೋಕನಾಥನಾದ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯ ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣನ ಮುಖವನ್ನು ನೋಡು—ಕಮಲದಳದಂತಿರುವ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳವನು. ಹಿಂದೆ ನಾನು ಚಪಲ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮುಖವನ್ನು ನೋಡುವಂತೆ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಇದನ್ನೂ ನೋಡು.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes reverent attention to the divine and the ethically elevating power of darśana—turning one’s gaze toward the wise protector of the world, whose presence steadies and uplifts the mind.
The speaker urges someone to stand up and behold Kṛṣṇa’s face—described with lotus-petal eyes—comparing this act of looking to an earlier, intimate remembrance of gazing upon the person’s father, thereby linking devotion with personal memory and consolation.
