उत्तड़क उवाच राजन गुर्वर्थिनं विद्धि चरन्तं मामिहागतम्‌ । न च गुर्वर्थमुद्युक्त हिंस्पमाहुर्मनीषिण:

Transliteration

Uttaṅka uvāca: rājan gurv-arthinaṃ viddhi carantaṃ mām ihāgatam | na ca gurv-artham udyuktaṃ hiṃsam āhur manīṣiṇaḥ ||

Translation

ಉತ್ತಂಕನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—“ರಾಜನೇ! ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಗುರುಕಾರ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ (ಗುರುದಕ್ಷಿಣಾರ್ಥಿ) ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿ; ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸಂಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಗುರುಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಉದ್ಯುಕ್ತನಾದವನಿಗೆ ಹಿಂಸೆ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.”
