Chapter 57
सैवमुक्ता त्वया नूनं॑ मद्वाक्येन शुचिव्रता । प्रदास्यति द्विजश्रेष्ठ कुण्डले ते न संशय:
saivamuktā tvayā nūnaṁ madvākyena śucivratā | pradāsyati dvijaśreṣṭha kuṇḍale te na saṁśayaḥ ||
ವೈಶಂಪಾಯನನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಓ ದ್ವಿಜಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಾ! ನೀನು ಈ ರೀತಿಯಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದರೆ, ಶುಚಿವ್ರತೆಯಾದ ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ನನ್ನ ವಚನದಿಂದ ಪ್ರೇರಿತಳಾಗಿ ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಆ ಕುಂಡಲಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡುವಳು; ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಶಯವಿಲ್ಲ.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights confidence in dharmic persuasion: truthful, well-intentioned speech can move a virtuous person to act rightly—here, to give a requested gift—without coercion.
Vaiśaṃpāyana assures a Brahmin that the virtuous woman, having been addressed appropriately and influenced by the speaker’s words, will certainly hand over the earrings; the statement functions as a narrative guarantee of the forthcoming act.
