गौतम उवाच त्वत्प्रीतियुक्तेन मया गुरुशुश्रूषया तव । व्यतिक्रामन्महाकालो नावबुद्धो द्विजर्षभ
Gautama uvāca: tvat-prīti-yuktena mayā guru-śuśrūṣayā tava | vyatikrāman mahā-kālo nāvabuddho dvijarṣabha ||
ಗೌತಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು— ಓ ದ್ವಿಜಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಾ! ನಿನ್ನ ಗುರುಶುಶ್ರೂಷೆಯಿಂದ ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲಿನ ಅಪಾರ ಸ्नेಹ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು; ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಷ್ಟು ಮಹಾಕಾಲ ಕಳೆದರೂ ನನಗೆ ಅದು ಗಮನಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ.
