कर्मणा जायते जन्तुर्मूर्तिमान्‌ू षोडशात्मक: । पुरुषं ग्रसते5विद्या तद्‌ ग्राह्मममृताशिनाम्‌

Transliteration

karmaṇā jāyate jantur mūrtimān ṣoḍaśātmakaḥ | puruṣaṃ grasate 'vidyā tad grāhyam amṛtāśinām ||

Translation

ಕರ್ಮದಿಂದ ಜೀವಿ ಜನ್ಮ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹದಿನಾರು ತತ್ತ್ವಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಸ್ಥೂಲದೇಹವನ್ನು ಧರಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅವಿದ್ಯೆ ಪುರುಷನನ್ನು ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಗ್ರಸಿಸುತ್ತದೆ; ಮತ್ತು ಅವನು ಅಮೃತಭೋಜಿಗಳಾದ ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಗೂ ‘ಗ್ರಾಹ್ಯ’—ಅಂದರೆ ಅವರ ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಪಡುವವನು—ಆಗುತ್ತಾನೆ.
