Brahmā’s Instruction on Brahmacarya, Vānaprastha, and the Aliṅga Path
Ethics of Non-attachment
āśīryuktāni sarvāṇi hiṃsāyuktāni yāni ca | lokasaṃgrahadharmaṃ ca naiva kuryān na kārayet ||
Do not engage in actions motivated by craving for results or marked by violence, and do not shift moral blame by having others do such acts on your behalf. Ethical responsibility includes both direct action and indirect instigation.
Vāyudeva is instructing the listener on right conduct, emphasizing restraint from desire-driven and harmful deeds and warning against justifying questionable acts under the banner of worldly or socially expedient ‘dharma’.
