अहिंसा परमो धर्मो हिंसा चाधर्मलक्षणा । प्रकाशलक्षणा देवा मनुष्या: कर्मलक्षणा:

Transliteration

ahiṃsā paramo dharmo hiṃsā cādharmalakṣaṇā | prakāśalakṣaṇā devā manuṣyāḥ karmalakṣaṇāḥ ||

Translation

ವಾಯು ಹೇಳಿದರು—ಇಗ ನಾನು ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳ ನಿಶ್ಚಿತ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯಗಳ ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳನ್ನು ವರ್ಣಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಅಹಿಂಸೆಯೇ ಪರಮ ಧರ್ಮ; ಹಿಂಸೆಯೇ ಅಧರ್ಮದ ಚಿಹ್ನೆ. ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಪ್ರಕಾಶದಿಂದ ಗುರುತಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಕರ್ಮದಿಂದ—ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಯಜ್ಞಾದಿ ವಿಧಿಕರ್ಮಗಳಿಂದ—ಗುರುತಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.
