Arjuna’s request to Krishna and the opening of the Kāśyapa–Brāhmaṇa mokṣa discourse (Āśvamedhika-parva 16)

वश्िद्‌ विप्रस्तपोयुक्त: काश्यपो धर्मवित्तम: । आससाद द्विजं कंचिद्‌ धर्माणामागतागमम्‌

vṛddho vipras tapoyuktaḥ kāśyapo dharmavittamaḥ | āsasāda dvijaṁ kañcid dharmāṇām āgatāgamam ||

ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ತಪಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಯುಕ್ತನಾಗಿಯೂ ಧರ್ಮಜ್ಞಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನಾಗಿಯೂ ಇದ್ದ ಕಾಶ್ಯಪನೆಂಬ ವೃದ್ಧ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣನು, ಧರ್ಮವಿಷಯಕ ಆಗಮ-ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಮರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಸಮ್ಯಕ್ ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದ ಒಬ್ಬ ದ್ವಿಜ ಮುನಿಯನ್ನು ಸಮೀಪಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನು ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳ ಗುಹ್ಯ ರಹಸ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಪುಣ, ಭೂತ-ಭವಿಷ್ಯ ಜ್ಞಾನ-ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾರಂಗತ, ಲೋಕತತ್ತ್ವಾರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಶಲ, ಸುಖ-ದುಃಖಗಳ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಅರಿತವನು, ಜನನ-ಮರಣ ತತ್ತ್ವಜ್ಞ, ಪಾಪ-ಪುಣ್ಯ ವಿವೇಕಿ ಆಗಿದ್ದನು.
