Discourse on Desire, Possessiveness, and Ritual Duty

Educational Q&A

Even a lofty aim like mokṣa can become a bondage when it turns into clinging or spiritual pride. True freedom requires non-attachment, not merely adopting the language or pursuit of liberation.

Vāyudeva declares that anyone who attempts to kill him—claiming a motive of liberation—is deluded, because that very fixation on mokṣa binds him. Vāyu, being divine and eternal, mocks the futility of such an attempt and proclaims his unslayable nature.
