ततो रात्र्यां व्यतीतायां कृतपूर्वाह्निकक्रिया:,तत्पश्चात् रात बीतनेपर पूर्वाह्लकालकी क्रिया पूरी करके विधिपूर्वक अग्निमें आहुति देनेके पश्चात् वे सब लोग क्रमश: आगे बढ़ने लगे। उन सबने रात्रिमें उपवास किया था और सभी उत्तर दिशाकी ओर मुँह करके उधर ही देखते हुए चले जा रहे थे

ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕಳೆದ ಬಳಿಕ, ಪೂರ್ವಾಹ್ನಕರ್ಮಗಳನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿ, ವಿಧಿಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಅಗ್ನಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಹುತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿ, ಅವರು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿ ಮುಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟರು। ರಾತ್ರಿಯಿಡೀ ಉಪವಾಸವಿದ್ದು, ಉತ್ತರಮುಖವಾಗಿ ಆ ದಿಕ್ಕನ್ನೇ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟು ಸಾಗಿದರು।
