Puṣkara-Śapatha Itihāsa (Agastya–Indra Dispute at the Tīrthas) | पुष्कर-शपथ-आख्यानम्
भरद्वाज उवाच उत्पन्नस्य रुरो: शंंगं वर्धमानस्य वर्धते । प्रार्थना पुरुषस्येव तस्य मात्रा न विद्यते
bharadvāja uvāca utpannasya ruroḥ śṛṅgaṃ vardhamānasya vardhate | prārthanā puruṣasyeva tasya mātrā na vidyate ||
ಭರದ್ವಾಜರು ಹೇಳಿದರು—“‘ರುರು’ ಎಂಬ ಸರ್ಪದ ಕೊಂಬು ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಾ ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಾ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಲೇ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ—ಅಂದರೆ ಆಸೆ—ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸುತ್ತಲೇ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ; ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಶ್ಚಿತ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವೂ ಮಿತಿಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.”
