Vṛṣādarbhī–Saptarṣi Dialogue
देवास्तु पितरो नाम निर्मिता ये स्वयम्भुवा । उष्णपा ये महाभागास्तेषां भाग: प्रकल्पित:
devāstu pitaro nāma nirmitā ye svayambhuvā | uṣṇapā ye mahābhāgāsteṣāṃ bhāgaḥ prakalpitaḥ ||
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಸ್ವಯಂಭೂ (ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ) ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದ ಕೆಲವು ದೇವತೆಗಳು ‘ಪಿತೃಗಳು’ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧರು. ಆ ಮಹಾಭಾಗ ಪಿತೃಗಳನ್ನು ‘ಉಷ್ಣಪಾ’ ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಶ್ರಾದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಭಾಗವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಯಂಭೂ ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
