Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
रौद्रे लोहितमित्याहुलोहितात् कनकं स्मृतम् । तन्मैत्रमिति विज्ञेयं धूमाच्च वसव: स्मृता:
raudre lohitam ity āhur lohitāt kanakaṃ smṛtam | tan maitram iti vijñeyaṃ dhūmāc ca vasavaḥ smṛtāḥ ||
ವಸಿಷ್ಠನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ರೌದ್ರ ಅಂಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದನ್ನು ‘ಲೋಹಿತ’ (ಕೆಂಪು) ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಆ ಲೋಹಿತದಿಂದ ‘ಕನಕ’ (ಚಿನ್ನ) ಉದ್ಭವಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಸ್ಮೃತಿಯಿದೆ. ಆ ಕನಕವನ್ನು ‘ಮೈತ್ರ’—ಮಿತ್ರತತ್ತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದದು—ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಯಬೇಕು; ಧೂಮದಿಂದ ವಸುಗಳ ಉದ್ಭವವೆಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗಿದೆ.
