Suvarṇa-dāna: Kārttikeya’s Origin and the Defeat of Tāraka (सुवर्णदान-प्रसङ्गे कार्त्तिकेय-उत्पत्ति तथा तारकवधः)
शक््य: समासादयितुं गोलोकः: पुष्करेक्षण । कमलनयन इन्द्र! ब्रह्मचर्य
Bhīṣma uvāca: śakyaḥ samāsādayituṃ golokaḥ puṣkarekṣaṇa. kamalanayana indra! brahmacarya-tapas-yatna-indriya-saṃyama-nānāprakāra-dāna-puṇya-tīrthasevana-mahātapaḥ anyāny-śubhakarmānuṣṭhānaiḥ eva golokaprāptiḥ bhavati.
ಹೇ ಪುಷ್ಕರೇಕ್ಷಣ! ಗೋಲೋಕವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವುದು ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಸಾಧ್ಯ; ಆದರೆ ಅದು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಚರ್ಯ, ತಪಸ್ಸು, ನಿರಂತರ ಯತ್ನ, ಇಂದ್ರಿಯಸಂಯಮ, ನಾನಾ ವಿಧದ ದಾನ, ಪುಣ್ಯಸಂಚಯ, ತೀರ್ಥಸೇವೆ, ಮಹಾತಪ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಶುಭಕರ್ಮಗಳ ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನದಿಂದಲೇ ಲಭಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
भीष्म उवाच
Liberation or ascent to a highest blessed realm (Goloka) is not gained by mere wish or status, but by sustained dharmic discipline—continence, austerity, effort, sense-control, generosity, merit-making, pilgrimage, and consistent performance of auspicious duties.
Bhishma, in his instruction on dharma, addresses a revered listener with honorific epithets and explains the means by which one may attain Goloka, listing the ethical and ascetic practices required.
