भीष्म उवाच अत्राप्युदाहरन्तीममितिहासं पुरातनम् । ऋषेरुद्दालकेर्वाक्यं नाचिकेतस्य चो भयो:
bhīṣma uvāca | atrāpy udāharantīmam itihāsaṃ purātanam | ṛṣer uddālaker vākyaṃ nāciketasya ca ubhayoḥ ||
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ರಾಜನೇ! ಈ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಪಂಡಿತರು ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಇತಿಹಾಸವನ್ನು ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ—ಋಷಿ ಉದ್ದಾಲಕ ಮತ್ತು ನಾಚಿಕೇತ, ಇಬ್ಬರ ವಚನಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಸಂವಾದವನ್ನು।
