गवां लोकवर्णनं तथा गोप्रदानफलश्रुतिः

शुभे पात्रे ये गुणा गोप्रदाने तावान्‌ दोषो ब्राह्मणस्वापहारे । सर्वावस्थं ब्राह्मणस्वापहारो दाराश्नैषां दूरतो वर्जनीया:

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | śubhe pātre ye guṇā gopradāne tāvān doṣo brāhmaṇasvāpahāre | sarvāvasthaṃ brāhmaṇasvāpahāro dārāś ca eṣāṃ dūrato varjanīyāḥ ||

Translation

ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—ಯೋಗ್ಯ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗೆ ಗೋಪ್ರದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದಷ್ಟು ಪುಣ್ಯವಿದ್ದರೆ, ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣನ ಧನವನ್ನು ಅಪಹರಿಸಿದಷ್ಟು ಪಾಪವೂ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯಾವ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರ ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಕಸಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು; ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವರ ಪತ್ನಿಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅಕ್ರಮ ಸಂಬಂಧವನ್ನು ದೂರದಿಂದಲೇ ತ್ಯಜಿಸಬೇಕು।
