Cyavana–Kuśika Dialogue on Lineage, Conflict, and Transmission
रमणीय: समुद्देशो गंगातीरमिदं शुभम् | किंचित्कालं व्रतपरो निवत्स्यामीह पार्थिव,'पृथ्वीनाथ! यह गंगाका सुन्दर तट बड़ा ही रमणीय स्थान है। मैं कुछ कालतक व्रतपरायण होकर यहीं रहूँगा
bhīṣma uvāca | ramaṇīyaḥ samuddeśo gaṅgātīram idaṃ śubham | kiñcitkālaṃ vrataparo nivatsyāmīha pārthiva |
ಓ ಪಾರ್ಥಿವಾ! ಗಂಗೆಯ ಈ ಶುಭ ತೀರಪ್ರದೇಶವು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ರಮಣೀಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ನಾನು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪಕಾಲ ವ್ರತಪರನಾಗಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ವಾಸಿಸುವೆನು.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical weight of vrata (vowed discipline): a wise elder chooses an auspicious place and commits to restrained observance, implying that dharma is sustained through deliberate self-control and sacred intention.
Bhishma addresses the king and indicates that the Ganga’s bank is an auspicious, pleasant location; he declares his intention to remain there for some time while devoted to his vow, setting a tone of disciplined, dharmic conduct.
