Vipulopākhyāna—Ruci-rakṣā and Śakra’s Māyā (विपुलोपाख्यानम्—रुचिरक्षणं शक्रमाया च)
अपीडयन् भूत्यवर्गमित्येवमनुशुश्रुम । पीडयन् भृत्यवर्ग हि आत्मानमपकर्षति
apīḍayan bhṛtyavargam ity evam anuśuśruma | pīḍayan bhṛtyavargaṁ hi ātmānam apakarṣati ||
ನಾವು ಹೀಗೆ ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೇವೆ—ತಮ್ಮ ಆಶ್ರಿತರ ಪೋಷಣೆಯ ಹೊಣೆ ಯಾರ ಮೇಲಾಗಿದೆಯೋ, ಆ ಆಶ್ರಿತವರ್ಗಕ್ಕೆ ಕಷ್ಟವಾಗದಂತೆ ದಾನ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಭೃತ್ಯವರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಪೀಡಿಸಿ ದಾನ ಮಾಡುವವನು ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ತನ್ನನ್ನೇ ಅಧೋಗತಿಗೆ ಎಳೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ.
