Aṣṭāvakra’s Visit to Kubera: Hospitality, Temptation, and the Ethics of Restraint (अष्टावक्र-वैश्रवणोपाख्यानम्)
आभासुरा गन्धपा धूमपाश्च वाचा विरुद्धाश्ष मनोविरुद्धा: । शुद्धाश्न निर्माणरताश्च देवा: स्पर्शाशना दर्शपा आज्यपाक्ष
ābhāsurā gandhapā dhūmapāś ca vācā-viruddhāś ca mano-viruddhāḥ | śuddhāś ca nirmāṇa-ratāś ca devāḥ sparśāśanā darśanapā ājyapāś ca ||
ವಾಯು ಹೇಳಿದರು— ಕೆಲವು ಪ್ರಕಾಶಮಾನ ದೇವಗಣಗಳು ಸುಗಂಧ ಮತ್ತು ಧೂಮವನ್ನು ‘ಪಾನ’ಮಾಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಇನ್ನೂ ಕೆಲವರ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ವಾಕ್ಕಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿಯೂ, ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೂ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿಯೂ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಕೆಲವು ಶುದ್ಧ ದೇವರು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿ-ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರತರಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕೆಲವರು ಸ್ಪರ್ಶಮಾತ್ರದಿಂದ ಆಹಾರ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಕೆಲವರು ದರ್ಶನಮಾತ್ರದಿಂದ ಪಾನೀಯರಸವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಕೆಲವರು ಘೃತಪಾನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.
