अत्रिर॒वाच कथं रक्षामि भवतस्ते<ब्रुवंश्वन्द्रमा भव । तिमिरघ्नश्न सविता दस्युहन्ता च नो भव
atrir uvāca: kathaṁ rakṣāmi bhavatas te? bruvan: candramā bhava; timiraghnaś ca savitā, dasyuhantā ca no bhava.
ಅತ್ರಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು— “ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲಿ?” ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಹೇಳಿದರು— “ನೀನು ಚಂದ್ರನಾಗು; ಅಂಧಕಾರವನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವ ಸವಿತೃ (ಸೂರ್ಯ)ನಾಗು. ನಮ್ಮಿಗಾಗಿ ದಸ್ಯುಗಳಂತೆ ದೋಚುವ ಈ ದಾನವ ಶತ್ರುಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸು.”
