अध्याय १६ — शङ्कर-उमा-वरदानम् तथा तण्डि-स्तुतिः (Śaṅkara–Umā Boon-Granting and Taṇḍi’s Hymn)
यः प्राणवन्तमात्मानं ज्योतिर्जीवस्थितं मन: । त॑ देवं दर्शनाकाड्क्षी बहून् वर्षमणानूषि:
yaḥ prāṇavantaṃ ātmānaṃ jyotir-jīva-sthitaṃ manaḥ | taṃ devaṃ darśanākāṅkṣī bahūn varṣam anūṣiḥ ||
ವಾಯು ಹೇಳಿದನು—“ಯಾರು ತನ್ನೊಳಗಿನ ಪ್ರಾಣವಂತ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು—ಜೀವಜ್ಯೋತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಿತವಾದ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು—ಗುರುತಿಸುತ್ತಾನೋ, ಅವನು ಆ ದೈವತತ್ತ್ವದ ದರ್ಶನವನ್ನು ಆಕಾಂಕ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಆ ಆಕಾಂಕ್ಷೆಯೇ ಅವನನ್ನು ಅನೇಕ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ತನಕ ಧರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.”
