Adhyāya 152 — Bhīṣma’s Authorization for Yudhiṣṭhira’s Return to the Capital (नगरप्रवेशानुज्ञा)

ब्राह्मणान्‌ दुर्बलानाथान्‌ दीनान्धकृपणांस्तथा । बिभर्त्यन्नेन या नारी सा पतिव्रतभागिनी

brāhmaṇān durbalānāthān dīnāndhakṛpaṇāṁs tathā | bibharty annena yā nārī sā pativratabhāginī ||

ಅನ್ನದಿಂದ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರು, ದುರ್ಬಲರು, ಅನಾಥರು, ದೀನರು, ಅಂಧರು ಮತ್ತು ಕೃಪಣ-ದರಿದ್ರರನ್ನು ಪೋಷಿಸುವ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯೇ ಪತಿವ್ರತಾ-ಧರ್ಮದ ಪುಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲುಗಾರಳು. ಉತ್ತಮ ಗುಣಗಳಿಂದ ಯುಕ್ತಳಾಗಿ ಸದಾ ಅತ್ತೆ-ಮಾವಂದಿರ ಪಾದಸೇವೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರತಳಾಗಿ, ತಾಯಿ-ತಂದೆಯರ ಮೇಲೂ ನಿತ್ಯ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಭಕ್ತಿಭಾವವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಅವಳು ತಪಸ್ಸೆಂಬ ಧನದಿಂದ ಸಮೃದ್ಧಳಾಗಿ ಎಣಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ; ಅನ್ನದಾನದಿಂದ ಅಸಹಾಯರನ್ನು ಧರಿಸುವವಳು ಪತಿವ್ರತ-ಧರ್ಮದ ಫಲವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾಳೆ.
