Do not direct a corrupt, lustful gaze toward another’s spouse; such inner moral corruption is taught to bring severe karmic consequences, here expressed as being born blind.
Śrīmaheśvara is delivering a moral injunction within the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction on dharma, warning about the ethical breach of desiring or ogling another’s wife and stating the resulting karmic retribution.
