Brāhmaṇa-pūjā and Namaskāra: Criteria of Reverence and Non-Offense (ब्राह्मणपूजा-नमस्कारविधिः)

आमिषं शीर्षतो यस्य पादतो यश्च संविशेत्‌ । तत उच्छिष्टका: सर्वे बहुच्छिद्राक्ष मानवा:

Transliteration

āmiṣaṁ śīrṣato yasya pādato yaś ca saṁviśet | tata ucchiṣṭakāḥ sarve bahucchidrakṣa mānavāḥ ||

Translation

ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ಹೊರುವವರು, ಅಥವಾ ತಲೆ ಇಡಬೇಕಾದ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟು ಮಲಗುವವರು—ಅಂತಹವರು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಉಚ್ಛಿಷ್ಟದಂತೆ ಅಪವಿತ್ರರು, ಅನೇಕ ‘ರಂಧ್ರ’ದೋಷಗಳಿಂದ ಗುರುತಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವರಾಗಿ ಎಣಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.
