अग्निकार्य च कर्तव्यं परमान्नेन भोजनम्‌ । दीपकश्चापि कर्तव्य: पितृणां सतिलोदक:

Transliteration

Dhaumya uvāca: agnikāryaṃ ca kartavyaṃ paramānnena bhojanam | dīpakaś cāpi kartavyaḥ pitṝṇāṃ satilodakaḥ ||

Translation

ಧೌಮ್ಯನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಅಗ್ನಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಕರ್ಮಗಳನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಬೇಕು. ಶ್ರಾದ್ಧದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಅನ್ನದಿಂದ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರಿಗೆ ಭೋಜನ ಮಾಡಿಸಬೇಕು. ಪಿತೃಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ದೀಪದಾನವನ್ನೂ, ಎಳ್ಳು ಮಿಶ್ರಿತ ಜಲದಿಂದ ತರ್ಪಣವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು।
