पिण्डं तु मध्यमं तत्र पत्नी त्वेका समश्षुते । पिण्डस्तृतीयो यस्तेषां तै दद्याज्जातवेदसि
piṇḍaṃ tu madhyamaṃ tatra patnī tv ekā samaśnute | piṇḍas tṛtīyo yas teṣāṃ taṃ dadyāj jātavedasi ||
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು— “ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮಧ್ಯ ಪಿಂಡವನ್ನು ಪತ್ನಿಯೇ ಮಾತ್ರ ಭಕ್ಷಿಸಬೇಕು; ಮತ್ತು ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರನೆಯ ಪಿಂಡವನ್ನು ಜಾತವೇದಸನಾದ ಅಗ್ನಿಗೆ ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಬೇಕು.”
