अल्पो5पि तादृशो दायो भवत्युत महाफल: । तृषिताय च ते दत्त हृदयेनानसूयता
alpo 'pi tādṛśo dāyo bhavaty uta mahāphalaḥ | tṛṣitāya ca te dattaṃ hṛdayenān asūyatā ||
ವ್ಯಾಸನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—“ಇಂತಹ ವಿಧಿಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ನೀಡಿದ ಅಲ್ಪ ದಾನವೂ ಮಹಾಫಲವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ. ನೀನು ಅಸೂಯೆಯಿಲ್ಲದ ಹೃದಯದಿಂದ ದಾಹಗೊಂಡ ಅತಿಥಿಗೆ ಅನ್ನ-ನೀರು ನೀಡಿದ್ದೀ; ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ದಾನವೇ ಅಪಾರ ಪುಣ್ಯವನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ.”
