भीष्म उवाच ज्येष्ठवत्‌ तात वर्तस्व ज्येष्ठोडसि सततं भवान्‌ । गुरोर्गरीयसी वृत्तिया च शिष्यस्यथ भारत

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | jyeṣṭhavat tāta vartasva jyeṣṭho 'si satataṁ bhavān | guror garīyasī vṛttir yā ca śiṣyasya tathā bhārata ||

Translation

ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—ವತ್ಸ, ಭರತನಂದನ, ನೀನು ಸಹೋದರರಲ್ಲಿ ಜ್ಯೇಷ್ಠನು; ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಸದಾ ಜ್ಯೇಷ್ಠನಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ವರ್ತಿಸು. ಗುರುವು ಶಿಷ್ಯನ प्रति ಗೌರವಭರಿತ, ಗಂಭೀರ ಹಾಗೂ ರಕ್ಷಕ ಧೋರಣೆಯಿಂದ ಹೇಗೆ ನಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾನೋ, ಹೀಗೆ ನೀನು ಸಹ ಸಹೋದರರ प्रति ವರ್ತಿಸಬೇಕು, ಓ ಭಾರತ.
