Śṛṅgī’s Curse on King Parikṣit

वायुकिरुवाच अयं शापो यथोद्दिष्टो विदितं वस्तथानघा: । तस्य शापस्य मोक्षार्थ मन्त्रयित्वा यतामहे
vāyukir uvāca: ayaṁ śāpo yathoddiṣṭo viditaṁ vaḥ tathānaghāḥ | tasya śāpasya mokṣārthaṁ mantrayitvā yatāmahe ||
ವಾಸುಕಿಯು ಹೇಳಿದನು—“ನಿಷ್ಪಾಪ ನಾಗಗಣವೇ! ತಾಯಿ ಹೇಗೆ ಶಾಪವನ್ನು ವಿಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾಳೋ ಅದು ನಿಮಗೆಲ್ಲ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆ ಶಾಪದಿಂದ ವಿಮೋಚನೆಗಾಗಿ ನಾವು ಮಂತ್ರಾಲೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಪರಿಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಯತ್ನಿಸೋಣ.”
शेष उवाच
When faced with a grave moral-spiritual crisis (a śāpa), one should respond with collective deliberation (mantra) and disciplined effort (yatna), seeking a righteous means of relief rather than despair.
A leader among the Nāgas addresses the serpent community, reminding them that the curse is known to all and urging them to consult together to find a way to be freed from it.
