दर्शपूर्णमास-प्रवृत्ति, प्राणग्रह-न्यास, यज्ञरक्षा-प्रकरणम् (TS 3.5)
TS 3.5 functions as a modular liturgical dossier within the Śrauta year, knitting together (i) the lunar hinge of Amāvāsyā–Paurṇamāsī as a ritual geometry of reversal/anuloma–pratiloma, (ii) priestly and social legitimation through Vasiṣṭha–Indra arthavāda, (iii) battle-formulae that transpose metrical/stonic structures into ritualized victory, (iv) apotropaic passages that secure the yajña against “yajñahana/yajñamuṣ” forces across the three worlds, and (v) a Soma-adjacent graha taxonomy culminating in prāṇa-grahas, where directions, meters, and vital functions are mapped onto a fixed count of cups/grasps. The prapāṭhaka thus acts as a connective tissue between lunar offerings and Soma-sacrifice logic: it translates cosmology into countable ritual operations (kapāla numbers, stoma counts, directional totalities) and embeds them in a choreography of grasping, offering, and establishing. In the Śrauta calendar, it supports periodic rites by providing reusable mantric “subroutines” for protection, empowerment, and continuity.

अग्निना देवेन प्र्तना जयामि । गायत्रेण छन्दसा त्रिवृता स्तोमेन रथन्तरेण साम्ना वषट्कारेण वज्रेण । पूर्वजान् भ्रात्र्व्यान् अधरान् पादयामि । अवैनान् बाधे प्रत्य् एनान् नुदे । अस्मिन् क्षयेऽस्मिन् भूमिलोके योऽस्मान् द्वेष्टि यं च वयं द्विष्मो विष्णोः क्रमेणात्य् एनान् क्रामामि । इन्द्रेण देवेन प्र्तना जयामि । त्रैष्टुभेन छन्दसा पञ्चदशेन स्तोमेन बृहता साम्ना वषट्कारेण वज्रेण… ॥
ದೇವ ಅಗ್ನಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ ನಾನು ಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ಜಯಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಗಾಯತ್ರಿ ಛಂದಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ; ತ್ರಿವೃತ್ ಸ್ತೋಮದಿಂದ; ರಥಂತರ ಸಾಮದಿಂದ; ವಷಟ್ಕಾರರೂಪ ವಜ್ರದಿಂದ—ಹಿಂದಿನವರಾದ ಭ್ರಾತೃವ್ಯ (ಶತ್ರು)ಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕೆಳಗಿನ (ವಿರೋಧಿ)ಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕುಗ್ಗಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಅವರನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಿಹಿಡಿಯುತ್ತೇನೆ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಹಿಂಡುತ್ತೇನೆ—ಈ ನಿವಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ, ಈ ಭೂಮಿಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ—ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುವವನನ್ನೂ ನಾವು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುವವನನ್ನೂ. ವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನ ಕ್ರಮದಿಂದ ನಾನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಮೀರಿಸಿ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಇಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ದೇವ ಇಂದ್ರನ ಮೂಲಕ ನಾನು ಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ಜಯಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ; ತ್ರೈಷ್ಟುಭ ಛಂದಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ; ಪಂಚದಶ ಸ್ತೋಮದಿಂದ; ಬೃಹತ್ ಸಾಮದಿಂದ; ವಷಟ್ಕಾರರೂಪ ವಜ್ರದಿಂದ.

सहजान् विस्वेभिर् देवेभिः प्र्तना जयामि जागतेन छन्दसा सप्तदसेन स्तोमेन वामदेव्येन साम्ना वषट्कारेण वज्रेणापरजान् इन्द्रेण सयुजो वयं सासह्याम प्र्तन्यतः घ्नन्तो व्र्त्राण्य् अप्रति । यत् ते अग्ने तेजस् तेनाहं तेजस्वी भूयासं । यत् ते अग्ने वर्चस् तेनाहं वचस्वी भूयासं । यत् ते अग्ने हरस् तेनाहं हरस्वी भूयासम् ।
ಸಹಜವಾಗಿ ಜನಿಸಿದವರಾದ (ಸಹಜಾನ್) ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದೇವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ಜಯಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ—ಜಾಗತ ಛಂದಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ, ಹದಿನೇಳನೆಯ ಸ್ತೋಮದಿಂದ, ವಾಮದೇವ್ಯ ಸಾಮದಿಂದ; ವಷಟ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ಮತ್ತು ವಜ್ರದಿಂದ. ನಂತರ ಜನಿಸಿದವರಾದ (ಅಪರಜಾನ್) ಶತ್ರುಗಳನ್ನು ಇಂದ್ರನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಯುಕ್ತನಾಗಿ ನಾವು ಜಯಿಸೋಣ; ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುವವರನ್ನು ಮಣಿಸಿ, ವೃತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ, ಅಪ್ರತಿಹತ (ಅಜೇಯ)ರಾಗೋಣ. ಹೇ ಅಗ್ನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ತೇಜಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ನಾನು ತೇಜಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಲಿ; ಹೇ ಅಗ್ನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ವರ್ಚಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ನಾನು ವಚಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಲಿ; ಹೇ ಅಗ್ನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಹರ (ಕಾಂತಿ/ಪ್ರಭೆ)ದಿಂದ ನಾನು ಹರಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಲಿ.
